Dove Jarrod fue una famosa sanadora, ocho años después de su muerte, su nieta Eve dirige su fundación benéfica, protegiendo de esa manera su legado. Eve sabe la verdad sobre su abuela y tiene que hacer todo lo posible para que nadie dañe la reputación de Dove. ¿De verdad Dove fue una asesina?

La historia está contada entre el pasado y el presente, comenzando en 1934, cuando Dove se escapa del hospital psiquiátrico donde nació y trata de forjar una nueva vida. Luego vamos al presente, con Eve, donde vemos como las decisiones de su abuela terminan afectando a su familia.

Estoy sorprendida con lo mucho que me gustó el libro, tiene varios giros de trama que me tomaron por sorpresa y que no vi venir, además que se lee súper rápido para ser un libro de misterio. También disfruté la atmósfera de magia y suspenso.

“He blamed the Hawthorn Sisters for his son’s death. He said Ruth Davidson told his wife that God would only answer her prayers if she was blameless as a mother and wife. Obeying her husband and bringing her unruly children to heel.”

Los personajes de Dove e Eve me gustaron, pero admito que estaba mucho más interesada en la vida de Dove que en la de Eve, y me hubiera gustado tener más capítulos dedicados a la abuela. Por otro lado, fue difícil conectar con Eve ya que su personalidad chocaba un poco con la mía, pero eso no le quita méritos, igual me gustó su desarrollo en la historia.

La verdad que sí disfruté del libro y me gustó el estilo de escritura de la autora, tenía miedo de que no me gustara, pero logró sorprenderme, lo cual es lo más importante y de todas maneras pienso leer otro libro de la autora.
